Intersession is a unique opportunity at High Tech High that allows each teacher to plan a one-week intensive course about any topic at all. For the second year in a row, we partnered with Studio West, a professional recording studio in Rancho Bernardo. This year's version of the course included a focus on songwriting as well as music production.
Students spent the first two days practicing and revising original songs they had been working on in the weeks leading up to Intersession. On Wednesday, we spent the entire day at Studio West, where students had the chance to work with an audio engineer to record their music in a professional studio.
On Thursday and Friday, with the help of Studio West engineer Andy Walsh, students learned to mix their tracks and create final drafts of their songs. They then created album cover artwork to go along with their music.
Check out the results of their hard work by listening to the playlist below. Huge thanks to everyone at Studio West for making this experience possible!
